On Tuesday ABVP disrupted a seminar organized by Literary Society of Ramzas College. Umar Khalid was invited to speak on his PhD topic “The War in the tribal areas”. Declaring a speaker and his topic “anti national” ABVP goons stone pelted the seminar and forced the college administration to cancel the seminar. On Wednesday ABVP goons attacked the students and teachers of Ramzas College over a protest march. The journalists too become a victim of ABVP’s hooliganism.
Today SFS protest demonstrated against the hooliganism of ABVP. The student organization PSU(lalkar) and some faculty members were also participated. The SFS President Daman Preet condemned the incident and argued that “Nationalism” of ABVP is nothing but a tool of the BJP government to suppress the voice of dissent. We never saw their “nationalism” when Modi government reduce the fund for Education. He emphasized that the issues of Dalits, Adivasis, minorities and even Kashmiri people should be raised and discussed in the universities. He, by citing the NHRC report on incident of rapes of 16 tribal women by security forces in Bastar region, argued that why there should not be discussion on Bastar. ABVP is not a student organization but a bunch of goons that’s why they never involved in discussion. All democratic forces should retaliate the hooliganism of ABVP and Sangh Parivar jointly.
