The Hindu-Fascist-Indian State has again shown its true colour and given a clear message that minorities are not tolerable in this 'democratic' & 'secular' State.
On 17th
july, the BSF goons entered a local Madrassa at Gool (Ramban), Kashmir and
unleashed a reign of terror. The ordered the Teraveeh Namaz to be stopped and
desecrated the Qoran. They also manhandled some people there. This was a direct
attack on the religious sentiments of the people. The next day, when people
gathered in protest demanding actions to be taken on the culprits, the ‘security’
forces opened fire on the protesters. The exact no. of people killed is still
unknown, with the count rising. The state-sponsored media have restricted the
no. to four.
After the
incident massive protests erupted in Kashmir and Indian state tried to suppress
these brutally. Curfews were clamped in many areas of Kashmir. Many have
suffered injuries in these demonstrations.
Well that’s
no new to Kashmir. Since the occupation of Kashmir by Indian Forces, many cases
of gross violation of human and democratic rights have surfaced, with still
pending inquiries. Kashmiri people have suffered much atrocities at the hands
of Indian State, be it the fake encounters, custodial killings, sexual violence
or mass rapes etc. Moreover the
so-called “security” personnel remain immune from the legal proceedings under
the draconian laws such as AFSPA and these beasts roam there freely. The
treacherous promise made by the Indian state in 1952 at UN in 1952 for holding
a plebiscite has not been fulfilled till now and India still continues with
illegal occupation of Kashmir.
Students For
Society (SFS) condemns this heinous act of the Indian State and stand in
solidarity with the Kashmiri people who are fighting for the realization of their
Right to Self-Determination and Freedom.
